Society Outings

A reminder of the Society’s policy on booking outings

You will be invited to book outings any time after the AGM with no deposit required. This gives us an indication of how popular the event will be.  All money must be paid 6 weeks prior to the outing and cannot be refunded unless we are able to resell your ticket.  If you decide not to proceed with your booking please ring and cancel; it saves Charles another telephone call!  WE NOW INCLUDE DRIVERS GRATUITY IN THE TICKET PRICE.

Wednesday 19th April 2023 

Chichester and Arundel Castle Gardens.

Today we go to Chichester on market day where you are encouraged to visit the Bishops Palace garden, there is no entry charge. You can walk the walls, shop and find an early lunch. We then go to Arundel Castle gardens to see the tulips as a follow up to our AGM talk.

We leave Steyning Fletchers Croft car park at 9.00am and return from Arundel at 4.45pm arriving back in Steyning at 5.30pm. The cost is £33.00 per head, includes coach travel, entry fees and driver gratuity.

Wednesday 17th May 2023

Kew Gardens.

Today we go Kew Garden, London. As well as the huge range of plants and shrubs each year they have a different theme to thrill visitors. It is also the only place in the UK where you can see the three largest water lilies in the world. We have not visited for twelve years so it will be good to see the changes.

We leave SteyningFletchers Croft Car Park at 8.30am and return from Kew at 4.00 pm arriving back in Steyning by 6.00 pm. The cost is £36.50 per head. Price includes coach travel, entrance fees and driver gratuity.

Friday16th June 2023

Wisley Gardens.

After our September visit last year we were all amazed at the improvements that had been made to the garden. We have included this trip again during the summer to see the roses and earlier flowing plants. If you have not been for a few years you will be surprised at the change and the new buildings.

We leave SteyningFletchers Croft car park at 9.00 am and return from Wisley at 4.00 pm arriving back in Steyning at 5.30 pm. The cost is £26.50 per head or £21.50 for RHS members. Price includes coach travel, entrance fees and driver gratuity.

Tenterden and Chapel Down Winery and Vineyard.

Today we visit Tenterden on market day. This is regarded as one of the best small market towns in Kent. You will have time to explore, shop and find lunch. This afternoon we visit Chapel Down for a tour of the vine yard, winery and wine tasting. As grape vines have become a major part of horticulture in the south we thought it is time to learn more. They supply Sainsburys supermarket.

We leave Steyning Fletchers Croft car park at 9.00 am and return from Tenterden at 4.30 pm arriving back at Steyning at 6.00 pm. The cost is £43.00 per head and includes travel, wine and tasting tour and driver gratuity.

• There is limited space to describe all the venues of the 2023 visits in detail and you are encouraged to view them on the internet for a full description.
• Prices for coach hire have increased hugely this year, and we have arranged our days to try and keep the costs as low as possible. Our aim is to keep the outings informative and very enjoyable for everyone.
• Due to HSBC changing our bank account to a Business account (so they can charge for paying in cash & cheques) we would prefer you to pay online, which is a free service.  Cash directly to Charles is also acceptable.
